5.2.3 beta release

Hello, the beta has been updated to version 5.2.3.

In this version we wanted to focus on a few issues that have been discussed on the forum several times.

First thing was the performance of AA units. Based on the reports we discovered that we applied wrong values and so the units in AA mode performed a lot worse than intended. However, players have also mentioned that investing resources into that just sit there and don't do anything else than provide air cover is a bit too restraining. So the changes in this update will set the AA performance to the intended level and also increases the area that the AA unit can cover in AA mode.
- Increased cover-radius of AA units in AA mode to 90 (from 60)
- fixed unintentionally low performance of units in AA mode against planes
Next thing that has been brought up a few times is the pathfinding of light vehicles, especially the armored cars. Some changes have been made to the rotation speed and pathfinding of these vehicles. We know it is still not perfect but so far we've got reports that "it is better" so hopefully you'll feel the same way. We'll try to optimize the pathfinding further in the future.

There have also been complaints about infantry in Luftwaffe doctrine and it has been pointed out that the Gebirgsjägers are in an unlock line that is not connected to the unlocks that give them benefits. We came up with a rather unique way to amend this. Now it doesn't matter if you unlock Gebirgsjägers or Fallshirmjägers first, you can continue unlocking the passive bonuses either way.
There have also been complaints about Fallshirmjäger loadout, where their baisc MP40s were considered too limiting in range combat but at the same time the upgrade to FG42 was too expensive. Fallshirmjägers now have the option to upgrade G43. It is the version without scope, so that Fallshirms don't overlap in their function with Gebirgs too much.
Luftwaffe doctrine:
- Reorganized the bottom line of the unlock tree
- In order to get the Luftwaffe Command Squad you now need to unlock Fallshirmjägers OR Gebirgsjägers
- Added a non-scoped G43 upgrade to Fallshirmjägers (50 ammunition for 2 rifles; possible to upgrade 2x)
Another report that has been brought up several times was that Tiger Ace in Terror doctrine was available too early because it was possible to unlock it immediately after normal Tigers but, since it is a call-in, it was possible to get it without fuel. This should now be less of an issue.
Blitzkrieg doctrine:
- Swapped places of Fuel Trade and Tiger Ace unlocks and changed their requirements
Last thing is a change to AB doctrine. 101st squads had some weird requirements for some of their weapon upgrades - e.g. the Thompsons required the HQ squad to be near them, then some weapons needed to be upgraded in own territory, some in connected territory and all of this was there when Luftwaffe infantry could upgrade their weapons anywhere. 101st can now upgrade their weapons anywhere, too.
Airborne doctrine:
- 101st can now upgrade their weapons anywhere
And this update also brings a few bug fixes:
- 2nd truck of Brits will now correctly give extra bonuses when upgraded (due to a bug it provided no bonus)
- applied the US 75mm penetration changes from the last update to Chaffee gun (was forgotten last time)
- CW starting MP income corrected to +275MP
- CW will now have proper MP income even when HQ truck is not deployed or destroyed
- Panther G is no longer available in infantry-only mode
- Fixed a bug where reinforcing CW Lieutenant would give to the player fuel
This update is now available on the beta branch and if no major bugs are reported, the live version will be updated in a few days.
