What is the function of GMC CCKW AMMUNITION TRANSPORT TRUCK?

Buying most unit upgrades requires you to be in your base (or at least near one of the base buildings). If you have an amunition truck or halftrack near your unit, it allows you to buy ammo upgrades for tanks and weapon upgrades for infantry outside the base.

Weapon upgrades can be purchased everywhere within your territory actually. Its only needed to buy tank upgrades. If i am not mistaken there has been debates about making such support vehicles more usefull, such as mortars dont need to pay for barrage when ammo truck is closeby and so on.
