Hello
So i've got a question about the Officer unit aura, certainly, on how does it really work for MG/Mortar crews, rather technical aspect of this feauture.
Untill mg or mortar is "on foot" and in range of aura, u can see Officer Indicator (small star/white dot, depends on faction), above it, but once u set it to the engagement mod, indicator disap[ears, and that is my question:
Is it still influenced by Officer or not, is it even worth to keep Leut/Captain around them(cause, from my experience, it feels like bonus is no more effecting unit/and as far as i know, Officers are getting experience from nearby allie units killing enemy and im not sure if mortars/mg's are even providing it).
(i wish to add few printscreen's to this, but my game decided not to allow me, i somehow couldnt make more then 1 picture :S
cheers

Re: Officer aura mystery
I'm not exactly what is going on with them, but I can tell you why you might want to keep them around those crews. The can get kills rather quickly and easily. Whenever I put them together the officer will get to vet 3 rather quickly and depending on the doctrine, like inf/AB where I can run into a lot of infantry past the early stages the officer may get to vet 5. In any case I like having the officer there for the retreat point that offers some protection as well as bonuses to keep those remaining alive

Sorry for the delay...
Long answer: It seems that the engine has some weird mechanic which changes the squad "type" to something else when they deploy the weapon. In game units have some "type" which allows you to influence specific units in your army with different abilities. Infantry in general has "unit type" of "infantry". Command auras are set to apply only on units that have type of "infantry" AND your own (because we don't want the commanders to give bonuses to opponents or your allies; also vehicles and buildings don't have "infantry" type so commanders don't give bonuses to these units/structures). MHG teams have the command indicator above themselves when they carry the gun (this proves that while the gun is NOT deployed the bonuses apply) but when the gun deploys the command indicator is gone - this applies that with deployed gun changes the "type" somehow but I don't know to what it changes.
Short answer: On, when team deploys weapon it does not receive bonuses from commander nearby.

Re: Officer aura mystery
Ah.., well, first of all, thank you for the answer, it was not late, but was more like me being concerned on choosing wrong place to post question, so i decided that it was ignored/not noticed in a first place
And yeah, that was my guess.., sadly. But oh well, if that was made on purpose to "sacrifice" some engine-gameplay flaws, then it's fine, not big deal for sure.

Re: Officer aura mystery
Small thing worth adding here i guess.
I've noticed, that CW leut aura works fine for brit MG/Mortar crews (indicator doesnt dissapear after unpacking), unlike for pointed WM/US units..
