The more expensive Fern rounds for larger range have less range than the standard rounds.

I believe that is only the case if you vet the howitzer. Try it with a vet 0 one, then the FERN shells should have a higher relative range.

It's a nuisance nonetheless.

I'm not entirely comfortable about vetted units - even arty - increasing in range with experience.

yeah, that might be because i noticed it first when it reached vet 3 when before i couldnt reach my target.
