Vet 4 Jumbo 76W w/vet 3 TC vs Vet 0 Grenadier

Played a game where as the topic states my jumbo that was full over repair got hit from the front by a grenadier at their max range and it blew up. How is that possible? Can the stats even happen?

Yeah. Every weapon has a 5% chance of One shorting a vehicle if penetrated. Which is why you pray to the RNG gods before every game.

For some reason I thought over repair mitigated some things like destroyed engine or instant death, thx

It does for most criticals, since the kinds of criticals that could happen are tied to the amount of HP remaining after taking damage. But the 5% persists for every health bracket.

Only cannons have 5% crit. bofors and other similiar armed cannons have 0% and pak36(37mm) doesn't have that chacne vs light vehicles. But I think you get the gist of it.
Big guns have insta kill crit chance vs big targets.

Yes , I think it was 5% chance of "oneshoot" .
I remember similar incident that my PE Panzerjager squad "oneshoot" M4 Sherman from Panzerschreck-ambush ; And Sukin showed me replay, where captured 50-mm Pak38 with american crew made "oneshoot" of... Tiger-Ace (BK-doc)
