US 60mm Mortar - What is it for?

Poor range, weakest damage, for some reason even CW 2-Inch (51mm) Mortar hit harder. What is it for? Does anyone use it?

in rare occassions when allieds are teamplayer then i do see the 60 mm sometimes early on while teamates do cover it with paks etc. But as long as you cant be sure that mates do help or protect it nobody really uses it. And yeah the rbits one hits much harder as the 60 mm which often seem to deal very low damage even when it was a decent it. But since the range of that mortar isnt really more as the range of infantry squads it makes seldomly sense to build it. I think the low range is because of realism but that way a lot of other arty pieces would have different range values and would differ from each other.
