New Terror/Propaganda Doc: Tiger Path

Post by kwok »

This path is a fairly straight-forward tank path. Unlock the Tiger tank, its variants, and other upgrades to the tanks. While it may be tempting based on previous metas on BK to rush this path as fast as possible, the new reworked doctrines will force you to need to be a bit more flexible in your doctrine choices. Getting the timing of when to unlock Tigers and upgrades will be a key skill in becoming successful with the new propaganda doctrine. If you unlock Tigers too early, you sacrifice many bonuses of the early game to give you the right support for your tanks. If you unlock too late, you may be left without any strong armor to take on the Allied war machine.

This thread is to talk about the Tiger path, its viability against other doctrines, and other ideas about armor units within the Propaganda Doctrine.

Tarakancheg: I want volkssturmm to upgrade to knights cross holders at vet 5 so that I can just show players how bad they are.

I don't have much to add in relation to the tiger tank path other than that a tiger tank call-in should be rolled into the same spot on the tree as the fuel trade call-in (could potentially be renamed heavy tank mobilization, would represent increased mobilization either through paying muni for fuel or paying a large amount of manpower for a tiger tank call-in, potentially with supporting pioneers). Whatever is directly below the tiger unlock in the current proposed tree could be replaced by a global buff to the tigers (free smoke, maybe some kind of arty call-in, free tank commander / vet, etc. all could make for attractive options).

Aside from that, switching the stug and Pz4 was a good call, the terror Pz4 isn't really potent enough to warrant a CP cost.

Edit: the update clears it up a bit, I had the tiger ace and buffs mixed around. Some of my ideas still apply but ignore the parts about doctrine structure.

The "tiger buffs" in the picture is "tiger phobia". It is an aura around the Tiger tanks which puts debuffs on most tanks and vehicles of Allies - lowers their movement speed by 20% and reload speed and accuracy by 15%. The aura has same reach as the range of the Tiger's gun. As mentioned above it puts debuffs on "most tanks and vehicles of Allies" - that means that the aura applies its effects only tanks that are "lower tier" than the Tiger and so can be (and mostly are) one-shot by Tiger. The aura does not apply its effects on Pershings, Super Pershing and won't apply to Churchills either.

Kingtigers have the same aura but their aura applies to every tank and vehicle.

Aura effects from more Tigers or combination of a Tiger and KT do NOT stack.

Similarly to Blitz doctrine, which is now "Panther doctrine" with reward choice of Panthers and Panther Ace, Propaganda doctrine will become "Tiger doctrine" with a reward choice between Tiger Early or Late versions, there will be Ace call in and then the Kingtiger.

EDIT: The difference between Early and Late versions are for now the same as they used to be - Late version has top MG, is more expensive and requires the Heavy Tank Factory upgrade so it is available later. Early model has a tiny bit less HP. We're thinking about other ways of making the two more different, perhaps some ability as we did it with the Panther version? Some shorter build times (as Tigers take quite long to build)? We're not sure yet.

Does Tiger buff unlocks S-mines for the Tiger early model? They were fired from launchers placed arround the tank but also could be fired from the smoke launcher. And the early model has smoke launchers attached. Perhaps smoke and S-mines would share same cooldown. The S mines would affect everything placed arround the frontal part of the tank.

Just a thought.

just a thought... What if the ALRS ability would be locked behind "Tiger buffs" unlock as well ?? Excluding the Tiger ACE though...
So, it would be same as the "Tigerphobia" ability.. both requiring "Tiger buffs" unlock.
