(1v2,2v3 etc) PVP Compensation Mode

Some time ago I suggested the idea over Discord that a mode be created to support PVP scenarios that can compensate for an odd amount of players in the match.

It's come to my attention I should post the idea here as well to act as a reminder for kwok who mentioned they are currently working on this, but I'd also love to see more conversation surrounding the idea.

Would it be possible to create a mode/scenario in which you can play a 1v2 PVP match, where the lone player has doubled resource income for the sake of compensating one less player on their team?

I frequently find myself trying to bring new and inexperienced players into the game, and more often then not they're hesitant to PVP. PVE can be fun but I've pretty much learned the ins and outs of the AI. 1v2 or even 2v3 scenarios are pretty frequent in my case anyways.


Being able to play against more than one player with the equivalent amount of resources to compensate for the lack of a human teammate on your own team could open the door to a few possibilities:
1. A gateway for new players into the PVP scene. 1v1s are awfully daunting, 1v2? Not so much!
2. An additional form of practice for players wanting to tackle more complex multi-tasking
3. Makes for scenarios in which your match up has an odd number of players possible!

I don't know how far the "compensation" can be made to go and what would be the best approach which is why I've kept the suggestion as a broad "resource compensation." Perhaps there could be a scenario in which you have access to combined doctrines with increased resources to maintain your ability to counter a mix of doctrines?

I would like to have more resources in 1v2 (I only vs new players), but even with normal resources, an expert player can fight vs 2 players who start to experience pvp, and win

the person with double resources will need a lot less resources for teching than the other 2 combined. and will get the teching done quicker due to obvious reasons.

My question is can it be done to only affect specific resources, manpower/fuel instead of all 3 resources. And what about pop cap? I know that should be irrelevant since 250 is often more than plenty.

And there are already cases where people win 1v2 without getting extra resources atm. So I would think that one person should be equally skilled as the lone one.

To some degree I think this is true, but say for example you're fighting 2 players who have thorough experience with A.I and have simply never played multiplayer.

That's a pretty good point, I had not thought about this. Perhaps this could be worked into the scenario whereby the lone player has that doubled tech income split for two different trees, or simply lowered like you suggested.

I'm more than certain there are already cases whereby lone players can 1v2 and come out on top but I think this mode might be useful and entertaining none the less.

So I’ve been working on it, it keeps crashing at launch. Will update when I figure out a fix
Tarakancheg: I want volkssturmm to upgrade to knights cross holders at vet 5 so that I can just show players how bad they are.
