What about making its abilities more similar to how dingo gets his abilities? I mean, once you built it, you either upgrade it to be an unit detection device, or you upgrade it to be a resources leech. As default it would just have binoculars and camo. I think it's fine, it's good for clearing trenches spam if you get an engies squad with flamethrower inside it, and when you're done, it's a good defensive unit. Happened in pretty much every game i played: once you use the "follow unit" ability or the "binoculars" ability, Lt unit keeps the ability icon above his head even when it's no longer active.
Not game breaking, just esthetical, but i guess it could matter for certain players.

On this matter my experience in gameplay says otherwise. For example there are a few areas on La Fiere where i built sandbags where there was red cover and my infantry behind sandbags was dying so easily. That happened to all the inf using that cover so i guess that wasn't just particularly bad RNG....
