I always feel confident in a pz4H/J against shermans. Shermans miss very often, got worse rate of fire and I think even pen chances are in a favor of pz4 (don't know the numbers). Even though they can in theory pen Tigers and Panthers.....taking into account their accuracy, RoF and pen chance......it's like hoping to get rich by playing roulette.
