airborne Fighter-Bomber Patrol is very good in other situations, it can both take down tanks and other heavy axis defences
Uhm did you play the latest patch? The US air patrol abilitiy was scrapped after beta integration..
It's an AT rocket strafe now.

They don't have options to paradrop AT guns but they get a free panzerschreck and Gebirgs can shoot panzerfaust. Not the same thing but they don't exactly lack AT options. Both in one.. so direct fire and barrage abilities for each, the RAF field gun and AB pack howitzer?

Essentially increasing their capabilities almost to Leig18 standards (sans the camo, but with a wider angle of fire). Which is non-doctrinal if i'm not mistaken.

I'd embrace that change.

Essentially i see a double nerf: vehicles were made vulnerable to MG fire recently and occupants can now be hurt aswell.
So maybe some backpedaling might be appropriate here. I chose option #2, less offensive capabilities while fighting from a transport, but a bit of cover while inside.

Is it possible to have the greyed out options for both tank hunters and battle tanks displayed until one upgrade is chosen, then omit the unavailable tanks?

I think you could evaluate your options a little better before locking your choice.

I dont think having exactly the same starting resources is critical. Differing amounts could be used to balance factions. But its an obscure variable that seems very situational. So if for some odd reason it would be very important that loosing a Barracks as US should hurt badly, you could increase ...
